Martin Lensink, P. Eng. Principal-In-Charge

Martin Lensink is a Mechanical Engineer who specializes in Energy Engineering and Energy Management. Martin has over 27 years of experience in helping energy intensive customers manage energy through technology. He specializes in the development of high efficiency cogeneration systems based on combustion gas turbines, steam turbines, and internal combustion engines. Prior to CEM Engineering, Martin was Manager of Gas Turbine Projects for Toromont Energy; he served as both Regional Sales Manager and as Manager of Canadian Operations for Rolls-Royce/U.S. Turbine Corporation; he was Senior Mechanical Engineer with SNC/W.P. London & Associates; and he has held a number of positions with Union Gas in Chatham, Ontario.

Some projects which Martin worked on before starting CEM Engineering include:

H.J. Heinz, Leamington, Ontario - Developed a $7.2 million, 7 MW Cogeneration project based on two (2) GTG's @ 3.5 MW each and two (2) HRSG's @ 62,000 pph each.
Case Study

University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario - Completed Feasibility Study as well as preliminary engineering with Capital Cost Estimate.
Case Study

Labatt's Ontario Breweries, London, Ontario - Managed EPCM services for a $7 million, 5 MW GTG and 100,000 pph HRSG Cogeneration System.
Case Study

Sonoco Paper Mill, Brantford, Ontario - Developed and implemented a $6 million Turnkey Cogeneration project based on a 4 MW GTG and a 55,000 pph HRSG.
Case Study

London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario - Developed a $7.2 million Turnkey Cogeneration Construction Contract based on a 5 MW GTG and a 70,000 pph HRSG.

Sonoco Paper Mill, Trenton, Ontario - Negotiated a long-term Energy Services Agreement for a 7 MW GTG and 120,000 lb/hr HRSG, $9 million Cogeneration System.

Lawrence Lighter, P. Eng. Project Manager

Lawrence Lighter is a professional engineer with 19 years of progressive, multi-disciplined experience in the industrial power industry. Proven track record for successful completion of both large and small project assignments. Excellent analytical skills rated to risk assessment and mitigation planning. A dependable and organized manager recognized for strong technical aptitude, hands-on field commissioning experience and the ability to communicate key project requirements to team members. Prior to CEM, Lawrence has worked as a Project Manager at MAN Diesel and Foster Wheeler. Lawrence is responsible for project management and execution of all of CEM’s engineering deliverables and projects.

Lance Turcotte, P. Eng. Thermal Power Specialist

Lance Turcotte is a Mechanical Engineer, with over 30 years of experience in the design and construction of steam plants and thermal power plants, ASME Boiler Specialist; Consulting Engineer; Designer of Coal Fired Power Projects; Project Manager; Energy and Environmental Studies/Reports; Business Development and Proposals for Engineering Consulting Services; Major power plant equipment and power project contracting, (both as Seller and Purchaser).

Steve Quinlan, Electrical Engineer-In-Training

Steve Quinlan started at CEM in June 2007. He graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering & Management from McMaster University in May 2007. Since joining CEM, Steve has been involved in designing, creating, and modifying electrical drawings (in CAD) such as Single Line Diagrams, grounding, conduit, and equipment layout plans. He has acquired experience in protective device coordination studies, economic feasibility studies (Proof-Of-Concept Assessments), Connection Impact Assessment applications, and Measurement, Monitoring, & Verification (MM&V) studies, using CUSUM software. Steve is knowledgeable in both OPA and IESO programs (having previously worked for IESO as a student). Steve is registered with the PEO in the Engineering Intern Training program.

Kevin Van Berkel, Mechanical Engineer-In-Training

Kevin has over four (4) years experience in the design, engineering, and construction support of a number of projects. His experience largely includes support to senior engineers, but also includes the project management of two (2) construction projects. He has gained this experience working on the following projects:

Micah Fuller , Mechanical Engineer-In-Training

Micah Fuller started at CEM is November 2009. He graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering in May 2007. Since joining CEM, Micah has been involved in the design and support of several projects.
